Organix Coconut Shampoo and Conditioner

I will say that these two have become part of my favorite hair care products. I've always seen Organix in stores and never really gave it a second thought because it is slightly more expensive than most drugstore hair products (and I'm pretty cheap lol). I've been using these consistently for about 2-3 months and I am finally done with the bottles. I wanted to take the time to give a thorough review for those who are interested in these products or those who are looking to try something new.

These two products are Sulfate free, Paraben free, not tested on animals, Safe for color treated hair, made in the US, and the bottles are made from recycled products. These probably are not the most eco-friendly/natural products, but they are pretty close.



First the shampoo. Oraganix Coconut Milk Shampoo. This is different from most shampoos I use mainly because it does not have sulfate (which means it doesn't lather).

Pros

• Sulfate free (sulfate can have the tendency to dry out your hair and dryer hair means your hair is more susceptible to breakage) Of course this is a personal preference though.
• Leaves hair soft because of its creamy consistency, unlike most shampoos
• Easy to find. You can find this in most stores in the United States
• Great Smell and it leaves your hair smelling great afterwards

Cons

• Not sure if it thoroughly cleanses hair. Maybe it is because we are taught to believe that a lather means the hair is clean but I almost feel like it just makes my hair soft but not clean. I could be wrong and this could just be my own mind. 
• I feel like I have to use a lot of product to get it evenly distributed and it seems like the shampoo does not spread well.

Overall, the shampoo is decent but I will not purchase it again. It leaves my hair with a soft feeling but I just dont feel like its the best shampoo. I do say this to say you should test it out for yourself.

On the other hand, The Organix Coconut Milk Conditioner makes up for what (I feel) the shampoo lacks.

Pros

• creamy consistency which leaves my hair super soft. This conditioner is one of the best ones I've used when it comes to the softness.
• Great Smell
• Great for a deep conditioning treatment. The bottle says you can leave it on for 3-5 minutes but most of the time i leave it on for 10 minutes - 1 hour. 

Cons

• I can honestly say I cannot think of one con to this conditioner and that is rare lol but if I had to say one negative thing then I wish the bottle came with more product in it. I find myself trying to keep this as my "good conditioner" so I wont use it up as fast as my other conditioners. 

Final Thoughts:

(the thicker, white product at the top is the conditioner and the clear, more liquid one towards the bottom is the shampoo)

The conditioner is something I would recommend everyone to try, of any hair type. I love this conditioner so much that I have 2 more back up bottles in my bathroom lol. The shampoo just does not do it for me but if you happen to try it and love it then great. I do love that these products are designed to add protein and moisture to your hair, which are the two of the things your hair needs to stay healthy.

DIY Deep Conditioner

What You'll Need (although all of these ingrediants are optional and the amount depends on your hair type and personal prefernece.

• Coconut Oil (a couple spoonfuls)
• Honey (about 2 table spoons)
• Avocado (half of one)
• Your own conditioner (I used a little Herbal Essence Hello Hydration Conditioner and Organix Coconut Oil Conditioner. Use As much as desired.)

For those who may be wondering why I used these certain products, I will break down their benefits for your hair

• Coconut Oil is one of the few oils that can actually penetrate your hair shaft. It is able to keep hair moisturized, reduce dandruff and helps prevent breakage. I've heard a lot of girls on youtube say it helps with hair growth as well.
• Honey adds shine to your hair and locks in moisture.
• Avocados are high in vitamins like omega 3 and omega 9 which are critical hair cell growth. It also protects hair from harsher climates (Especially ones like the winter).

I know the picture looks a little nasty lol...it is the avocado that gives it that green look. This mixture would probably be great for your skin as well (minus the conditioner).

Since this conditioner is a DIY, you can leave it on your hair as long as you want. 5 minutes, 30 minutes or an hour. I think you should just make sure the mixture doesn't dry out while it is on your head. To get a better use of this, you should sit under a hooded dryer with a plastic cap.

This made my hair feel really soft after I rinsed it out. Next time, I would use a hand mixer to get all of the lumps and clumps out.

Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Intense Moisturizing Treatment Review

I've been using this product for about 3 months now (and roughly 5-7 applications). I wanted to give you guys a thorough review of this product.

Organix' website claims it:

"Renew your hair's inner health with Argan oil nutrients, antioxidants, and Vitamin E. Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil Renewing Treatment is a deep conditioning, exotic formula to add brilliant shine and create lush softness without leaving any heavy residue which can weigh hair down."

The front of the packing states:

"A unique, precious blend of Moroccan Argan Oil which instantly penetrates the hair shaft restoring shine and softness while strengthening and creating soft, seductive, silky perfection."

I will first state if these claims were correct or incorrect, from my experience.

• Brilliant shine? Well my hair is naturally shiny because of all the oils I use in my hair and my natural oils so I cannot confirm if this is true or not. At least it did not take shine from my hair so this one is neutral.
• I noticed my hair was softer after using but not a dramatic difference in the softness.
• This deep conditioner did not leave any residue in my hair ( and I use a lot of the product) and it did not weigh my hair down at all.
• I cannot say whether it penetrates the hair shaft or not, I have no way of knowing this.

How to use this product:

Scoop a small amount into palm and evenly distribute with a wide tooth comb from your roots to your tips. Leave treatment in for 3-5 minutes. Product performance is enhanced by placing cap over hair and wrapping cap with a hot wet towel. Rinse with mild to cool water.

I used a little more product than a small scoop because I have a thicker texture of hair. I'm sure if your hair is more silky or a thinner texture you will only need to use a scoop.

Pros:

• It is easily accessible. You can find it at just about any drugstore, beauty supply store, website, or store that sells hair care products.
• The smell. It has a strong cologne smell (that I happen to like). It smells somewhat like a man's cologne. The smell does not linger but you can smell it when you are applying it. I thought this could be the smell of the "argan oil" in it but in the ingredients list, it states there is parfum ( I guess that could be a negative).
• Its extremely creamy. It sticks to my hair well and is pretty easy to apply.
• This product is sulfate-free (well actually all Organix products are sulfate free)
• When I am applying it to my hair with my hands i notice my hands feel smoother and silkier.
• I like that the packaging is nice, it makes it seem like you are using a luxurious product (in my opinion).

Cons

• I dont feel like it bettered my hair in any way. It seems almost as if I didn't use a deep conditioner. This could all just be my experience or me expecting a dramatic change but I think after using a product for 3 months, I should be able to notice a change. :-(
• It is a little on the pricey side for my budget. It costs around $8 but I picked it up when Ulta was having a BOGO deal. If you are interested in this product you should definitely check out when Ulta, Walgreens, or CVS is having a BOGO deal, I notice them every now and then. I think there are cheaper deep conditioners that can do the same thing if not more.
• Argan Oil is towards the bottom of the ingredients list and so is jojoba. Since this is a "Moroccan Argan Oil" I wish it contained more Argan Oil.
• I dont notice a silkier or softer texture in my hair.

Overall Review:

I give this product 2.5/5

I think there are better deep conditioning products than this. I personally did not notice a difference or a stronger feeling in my hair.

This doesn't mean I hate Organix, I just don't like this product. I do love their Coconut Oil Conditioner and I think I would probably use that as a deep conditioner instead of this. I plan on doing a review on that product soon so be on the look out for that.

Would I purchase this again? - No

Would I recommend this?- I would say no unless someone is really adamant about trying this then go ahead.

I went to Ulta on Thursday and picked up a few things. I'm kinda mad because when I got back home there was an Ulta coupon in the mail and I didn't get a chance to use it. Oh well, I plan on going back during the holidays to get a few more things.

I saw this glitter and immediately thought of wearing it during the holidays or for New Years Eve. But when I got home and looked on the back, I saw it wasn't safe for the eye area. :-( I guess I'll find some way to use this.

I never really venture off into the body section of Ulta but I saw this for less than $5 and I had to pick it up. I put tried it on and it was pretty decent, the ginger is a little strong but it isnt too bad for the price.

I've always wanted to try the L'Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray, although I rarely use hairspray lol. I'm sure I'll have it for a long time and I hope its worth the money.

I've been trying to expand my perfume collection and before I go out and spend money on a big bottle, I always look in the travel size section of Ulta. I saw there were almost hundreds of this smell so I decided to try it out. I liked the smell in the store and it still smells pretty good.

Aussie Heat Protecting Shine Spray Review

I like blogging about different products I try because I like reading posts about different products. I want to help those out who may be searching for this product and happen to stumble across my blog. My reviews are just meant to be another opinion about a certain product. My review is not the end all be all on a product because we all have different experiences.

Now I've been using this product for about a couple months now. I think I picked it up at Target when I needed a new heat protector. I haven't used one in so long, the last one I used was Tresemme's Heat Tamer (and that was a few years ago).

Aussie's Heat Protecting Shine Spray claims that it "Helps shield hair from heat damage and lets your look shine".

Now my hair is naturally shiny and I use a lot of different oils in my hair so I'm not sure if this product adds more shine to my hair or not.

On the heat protecting side, No one TRULY knows if heat protectors work on your hair. We all like to think they do. Its kind of like sunscreen lol...we use it just to make sure we don't damage our skin (or hair in this aspect).

I use this product after I shampoo and condition my hair. I apply it to my hair then wait for it to soak in a little then fully blow dry my hair. I think it would be hard to use this product if you are only flat ironing your hair because it is a water-based product and if you don't let your hair dry before you flat iron it, there is a chance of frying your hair (which defeats the purpose of using a heat protector in the first place). I realized I prefer heat protectors that are oils or dry products as opposed to liquid, especially for flat ironing my hair.

But I do notice if I use too much, it will make my hair feel a little sticky (its not extremely noticeable but I can feel that the texture of my hair is a little different).

Another con I have is that the second ingredient is alcohol, which is bad for our hair and can have a drying effect.

I like that this product seems to evenly distribute the product in a mist. I like to feel like this product is protecting my hair but I am not absolutely sure it does. This product is extremely affordable and easily accessible.

This is my first Aussie product so I am not sure how it compares to their other products, I would like to try their 3 minute conditioner.

On the back of the bottle it does say "Satisfaction Guaranteed or your money back (within the first 30 days)". But it also says you have to call with unused product and your receipt. Umm how would you know if you satisfied if it is "unused"? But anyway....

Would I purchase this product again?

- Maybe, if it was on sale and I didn't want to spend a lot on a heat protector.

Would I recommend this?

- If you are interested in trying a new heat protector on your hair, and you have about $4 to spare, sure. I don't think this is a horrible product but it isn't a "holy grail" product either. If I had to recommend any heat protector it would be the chi silk infusion (which has been the best heat protector I've used to this date, I just wish it wasn't so expensive).

I would give this product a 3.75/5

A few years ago I HATED coconuts. I hated the way they smelled and I didn't like the taste. Obviously my taste buds (and nose lol) has changed. Over the last couple months I've collected a lot of products coconut related products, unintentionally. Now I am obsessed with all things coconut.

After seeing a video on youtube about coconut oil and its benefits, it really made me want to research it myself. Coconut oil is one of those oils like Olive oil, it can be used for almost anything. It's great for cooking, a source of essential fatty acids, skin, and hair. I even heard it can aid in weight loss.

Earlier this week, I showed you guys a haul where I bought Now Healthy Foods Virgin Coconut Oil from GNC. If you are interested, I think it was around $8 for a 12 oz jar. This is a certified organic product.

The coconut oil smells so good (well just like coconuts lol). The funny thing about this product is its melting point is so low it can easily be changed from a liquid to a solid. All I have to do is either store it in a cold place to get it to a solid form or I can sit it outside for 5 minutes and it will instantly becomes a liquid oil. You can literally see it melt in your hand.

I have been using this for my hair and it adds oil to my hair and makes it smell really good. I haven't applied it directly to my skin yet but I'm pretty sure it is a good moisturizer if your skin is feeling dry. I have however made a lip scrub from it. I mixed the coconut oil with sugar and applied it to my lips and it removed the dead skin and made my lips feel smooth. (but you can do this with almost any oil and sugar).

Since it came in such a huge jar and I plan to use half of it for beauty related things, I decided to separate half of it and put it in a small container.

I haven't used it for cooking yet but I'm sure it will not only add flavor but add nutrients that your body needs.

I really encourage you to do research on Coconut oil for yourself, to see if you are interested.

Another product that has coconut oil in it is this Organix Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum. This product is anywhere between $4-8. I probably shouldn't even consider this a "coconut product" because Coconut oil is all the way at the bottom of the ingredients list. I can say it does smell like coconut oil and it makes my hair really soft when I put it in.

It claims it "instantly repairs dry hair, damaged, coarse, or chemically treated hair. It helps resurface the hair, repairs damaged hair and cuticles, and mends split ends and frizziness. It adds strength and elasticity."

I think over time it can improve the health of your hair. I don't have problems with frizziness but for those of you who do, I'm certain it would tame it.

Now I've had this body spray and lotion for a while and I'm not even sure they still carry it at the stores anymore. It is Bath & Body Work's Exotic Coconut. This is more of a summer/spring scent (obviously lol) but I do like spraying it in my room for a tropical feeling. I plan on taking these with me on my cruise to the Caribbean, the smell will fit the vibe lol.

I also love this Master of Mixes Pina Colada mixer. All you have to do is add rum and ice and mix it in a blender and it is sooooo good. If you are under 21 you can just use cream of coconut and ice (and maybe a little sugar) and it will taste exactly the same. Its a fun thing to have every once in a while or if you are having a party.

I will say I have tried coconut water and I didn't really like it. I hear everyone say they love it but I was not feeling it, AT ALL.

I usually do smaller hauls but I've collected most of these items over the past couple months. I probably wont do that many hauls in the next few months because I'm saving for a cruise. I'm trying not to spend all my money on frivolous things lol.

Any who....I will sort this haul by the store

I've heard a lot of good things about coconut oil so I went to GNC to pick up some. I got Now Healthy Foods Certified Organic Virgin Coconut Oil for around $8. I will be doing a post all about coconut oil this week so look out for it.

I also went to Ulta. They had (or maybe still have) a special on Organix hair products so I got Organix Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum and Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Intense Moisturizing Treatment.

I also got these Wet n' Wild Nail Polishes from Ulta. I picked up Sparkled and How I met your Magenta

Next is Target. I needed a new heat protector for my hair so I decided to try Aussie heat protecting shine spray. I'm almost done with this product so I will be doing a review on it soon.

I love this body wash. Its Caress Cashmere Luxury Silkening Body Wash. The packaging says it smells like white orchid milk & warm vanilla Essence but it actually smells like baby powder (to me, which is fine). This is maybe my third time buying this product and I like it.

I also saw these down the vitamin aisle so I wanted to try them. They are vitafusion MultiVites 200% Vitamin D Gummy Vitamins for Adults. I've been taking them for a few weeks now, I havent noticed anything different about myself but they do taste yummy. lol

Last Tuesday ( 9/12) I HAD to go by Target to see what they had for the Missoni for Target line. I was disappointed so I decided to just pick up this scarf. I was hoping they would have a bunch of really cute things but it was BLAH. I'm kind of mad because now the tag on the scarf is falling off and I haven't even used it or anything. Sorry the scarf is so wrinkled but you can see its pretty huge.

I also got these Paisley Platform Pumps from target. They are pretty comfortable too. What I hate about them is that they are suede and will probably need a lot of care. They are on sale so if you are interested go check them out in the store.

I got these Cayenne Fruit Capsules and Nutella from Walmart. I always wanted to try Nutella after seeing a lot of people on tumblr talk about it. It is actually really good. It tastes like a chocolate peanut butter (kind of lol).

When I was in Walgreens I saw they had this Clean & Clear pore perfecting moisturizer on sale so I wanted to try it.

Lastly, and most recently I went to CVS because I needed a new shampoo. I got this Pantene Relaxed & Natural for Women of Color Dry to Moisturized Shampoo. I've used it before and it worked pretty well.

CVS and Kohls Haul

I purchased these products on Thursday. Sorry that I was able to blog about them earlier because they all were sales. If you're still interested in these check out your local CVS or Kohls to see if the sale is still going on.

First I went to CVS and looked to see what they have. When I noticed they had v05 shampoos and conditioners for .77cents, I had to pick some up. I've only tried the strawberries and cream moisturizing conditioner so i dont know how these other shampoos and conditioners will work but I figured I could just add them to my routine to co-wash or when I run out of "the good stuff" lol.

I also picked up these stridex wipes because they were buy one get one free. I used to use these last year and they really helped get rid of my acne and now that I stopped using them (and maybe because of stress) it has returned. So I wanted to go back to what worked. I haven't tried the sensitive one but im sure it will be great as well.

I picked up the Stridex Maximum soft touch wipes with 2% salicylic acid and Stridex Sensitive with Aloe.

My favorite purchase was from Kohls. I picked out these Lauren Conrad sunglasses. All of her glasses retail for $30 but when I went they all were on sale for $10. I wish I would've got all of them lol. I love Lauren Conrad's style and everything she has in Kohls is so freaking cute.

Dr. Miracle's Tingling Intensive Deep Conditioning Treatment

According to the packaging the Benefits are:

• "feel it" formula's tingling sensation supports strong growing hair and healthy scalp
• strengthens hair while adding brilliant shine and fabulous body.
• Treatment continues to work after you stop feeling it
• thermalceautical complex wakes up your sleeping hair follicles.

I freaking love this conditioner. It gives my head a really nice feeling (like when a hair stylist is shampooing and scratching your scalp lol). I've used this product about 10 times. Its super cheap (under $2) and you can find it almost anywhere.

I can say this product really does make your head feel awake because of the tingling sensation. The two things i don't like about it are all the freaking parabens in the ingredients list and that it doesn't come in a larger jar or container (instead of having to purchase it in single uses).

This product is designed for African American hair but I'm pretty sure you could use this if you have a different hair texture (but just use about 1/4 of the packet).

Suave Professionals Rosemary + Mint Invigorating Clean (For All Hair Types).

Its Claims:

• proven to invigorate hair as well as Aveda Rosemary Mint shampoo and conditioner.
• infused with 100% natural rosemary and mint
• gently cleanses and increases manageability for hair that's soft and shiny.

Now this shampoo is pretty decent to me. I was purchasing this thinking it would give my head the tingling feeling i get with the Dr.Miracles deep conditioner but it didn't. To even get a slight hint of tingle you really have to scratch your scalp. It does make my hair feel really clean after just one shampoo. This shampoo does have sulfate in it (for those who care). I dont really like the STRONG smell of rosemary ( I guess i was paying more attention to the mint than the rosemary when i was buying it lol but thats my fault so i wont hold that against Suave). I've never tried the Aveda version of this so i dont know how it compares to it. For being under $3 it is a pretty good shampoo if you arent looking for an invigorating shampoo.

Although I will keep using this bottle of shampoo, I wont repurchase. I will definitely repurchase the deep conditioner.

Herbal Essences Review: The Good and the Bad

Herbal Essences Hello Hydration is one of the FEW conditioners I've re-purchased over and over. It is a Moisturizing Conditioner infused with Hawaiian Coconut & Orchid. I love it because it makes my hair feel REALLY soft and it is super affordable. This product is great no matter what texture or hair type you have. If you haven't tried this out you should give it a try. I know a lot of natural girls use this on their hair as a co-wash and I have not seen or heard of a bad complaint yet. Since it is so inexpensive it will not hurt your pockets to try it out.

Now on the other hand, I tried this shampoo from Herbal Essences Color Me Happy Shampoo For Color-Treated Hair. It is infused with Acai berries & satin. It was a total FAIL!!!!! I tried this Herbal Essence Shampoo and it dried my hair out so bad. I first bought it when i dyed my hair and i figured it would be good to help keep the color. It made my hair really stiff. This was so bad I started to use it to wash my dog, to shave my legs, and to wash my body when I ran out of body wash (lol). I would not recommend this product at all (but then again maybe I just got a bad batch...idk). The good thing is that is smells really good.
