I loved Christian Siriano since he was on Project Runway. I think he is a pretty talented designer. In this collection, I love the way he paired basic tees with gorgeous skirts.
I didnt want to post the whole collection because that would be too much and I didnt really like EVERY piece. I decided to share with you ladies a few of my favorites. These are the pieces I would definitely wear.
I love the geometric look, the way they played with lines. I'm glad that color blocking will still be around next year. I love that these pieces have a flowy feel to them. I can just imagine being somewhere tropical, on a vacation or even a yacht lol. These pieces are stand alone pieces, meaning they don't need to be accessorized. They are great as they are.
you can find the whole BCBG Max Azria collection here
This piece is gorgeous, I can only imagine the flowing feeling of it.
This bright orange just screams spring, in a good way lol.
I love the tribal-ish look of this piece.
These last two are probably my favorite pieces from this collection

I will definitely be posting more of my favorite pieces form different shows so tell me what your favorite pieces are too so we can experience this together lol.
Midnight And The Meaning Of Love is the 3rd novel from author, Sister Souljah. This book is the sequel to Midnight: A Gangster Love Story and a prequel to the Coldest Winter Ever.
If you aren't familiar with any of these books I'll give you a brief synopsis.
The Coldest Winter Ever is about Winter Santiaga is the the teenage daughter of a notorious drug dealer in Brooklyn, NY. Winter is used to getting what she wants and is kind of promiscuous. She likes this boy, Midnight, who works for her father but he wont give her the time of day. This book really deals with Winter getting her world turned upside down and how she deals with losing some things that are important to her. If you haven't read The Coldest Winter Ever, you really should.
The second book, Midnight A Gangster Love Story, is actually the prequel to the Coldest Winter Ever. Midnight was brought up in an Islamic African family in the Sudan but him, his mother, and his sister move to Brooklyn, NY. This book is about Midnight adjusting to living in the States, taking care of his mother and sister, staying true to his religious beliefs, and falling in love. He ends up falling in love with a Japanese girl, Akemi, and marries her. At the end of the story Akemi's father kidnaps her and takes her back to Japan. Midnight then decides he is going to Japan to get his wife back.
In the current book, Midnight and The Meaning Of Love, Midnight takes us on an adventure as he tries to get his wife back. There are three parts to the book: The Brooklyn part where he makes sure his mother and sister are safe and secure while he is away and takes us on the journey before he leaves New York. The second part is in Japan. It takes us through the process and obstacles he faces while trying to get his wife back and the mercenary who helps him find her and learn more about the Japanese culture. The third part is in Korea where he tries to find Akemi's grandmother.
This book is pretty good. Since the first book, I pretty much fell in love with Midnight. He is different from most males in the United States and has different values, which makes most of the women attracted to him in these novels. In this last book I really felt like I am travelling around the world with Midnight as I was reading it. It is a great love story that everyone can relate to no matter where you live, what your religion is, or what your economic status. There are so many different aspects in this book.
This book really made me have a respect for people of different religions and cultures than me. You will also learn few Arabic, Japanese, and Korean words. It really teaches you a lot about different cultures and how they view different people.
I also loved that the book had pictures (lol). Having pictures of the characters really helped me connect to them even more.
I don't want to give away too many details or spoilers just in case anyone wants to read it but there were some things I didn't like about it.
I didn't like that there was really no link from this book to the Coldest Winter Ever. Sister souljah didn't really explain how Midnight came to work with Winter's father, what happened to his wife, or some other things. Maybe she will come out with another book but I'm not sure...
I'm not really down with polygamy, which I'm sure most of us who are of this generation and in most countries agree with me...but that is just a personal reason. I did enjoy reading about it though, it was a very interesting aspect.
The book was 600 pages, which is A LOT (in my opinion lol). It took me about 5 days to read. I think it could've been condensed and there were some things that should have been left out and didn't need much explaining.
Despite those cons, it was a really great novel. The author really draws you into what you are reading.
Some people may consider these "hood novels" but they are so much more. I think if you open your mind you can actually learn from these books. Personally, these books made me reevaluate how I may be perceived by males, what some qualities I should look for in a man, and I learned that I need to be more dedicated to God and seek him more.
The meaning of love deals with many different issues like love (hence the title lol), religion, adjusting to different cultures, and polygamy.
I love that you can read all of these separately without reading any of the previous novels. Although reading them all helps you become closer with the characters.
I would recommend this book to anyone, especially if you are looking for a good fictional read.
Here is an interview the artist did about the book a few months ago
What are some books you have been reading lately? I'd love to know because I'm really trying to get back into reading.
I purchased these products on Thursday. Sorry that I was able to blog about them earlier because they all were sales. If you're still interested in these check out your local CVS or Kohls to see if the sale is still going on.
First I went to CVS and looked to see what they have. When I noticed they had v05 shampoos and conditioners for .77cents, I had to pick some up. I've only tried the strawberries and cream moisturizing conditioner so i dont know how these other shampoos and conditioners will work but I figured I could just add them to my routine to co-wash or when I run out of "the good stuff" lol.
V05 Herbal escapes Moisturizing Conditioner in free me freesia
v05 Herbal escapes clarifying shampoo in kiwi lime squeeze
v05 Moisture Milks Moisturizing Shampoo in Strawberries & Cream.
I also picked up these stridex wipes because they were buy one get one free. I used to use these last year and they really helped get rid of my acne and now that I stopped using them (and maybe because of stress) it has returned. So I wanted to go back to what worked. I haven't tried the sensitive one but im sure it will be great as well.
I picked up the Stridex Maximum soft touch wipes with 2% salicylic acid and Stridex Sensitive with Aloe.
My favorite purchase was from Kohls. I picked out these Lauren Conrad sunglasses. All of her glasses retail for $30 but when I went they all were on sale for $10. I wish I would've got all of them lol. I love Lauren Conrad's style and everything she has in Kohls is so freaking cute.
What are some things you guys have picked up lately? Also I cant wait for Missoni for Target. Are you guys gonna pick up anything from that line?
I love watching award shows, not only to see some of my favorite artists perform but to see what different musicians and celebrities wear. The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards were pretty good this year, musically and fashion-wise.
Justin Bieber arrived wearing red skinny jeans, a basic black tee, a black blazer, and leopard sneakers. He accessorized with gold chains, readers, and a Yves Saint Laurent pin. Some people may not like this look but I actually like it. It kind of reminds me of Kanye's style. Also peep the snake in his hand lol.
Demi Lovato showed up looking amazing. She wore a silver sequined Mandalay dress and silver Christian Louboutin heels. I love that she is comfortable in showing off her curves.
Zoe Saldana wore a Barbar Bui dress with these GORGEOUS Balenciaga shoes. I love love love those shoes. I cant wait to see her new movie, Colombiana.
Kelly Rowland showed some skin with a Falguni & Shane fringe dress with Christian Louboutins.
Newlywed, Kim Kardashian (or Humphries) wore this body-hugging Kaufman Franco dress that showed off her figure.
I actually like this Roberto Cavalli long sleeve dress Miley Cyrus wore to the show. Plus her make up looks amazing.
Taylor Lautner, or Jacob, looked great. He kept it really basic: a blazer, a white tee, and jeans. Some guys can pull this look off and he is one of them.
Adele looked pretty in this black dress with her retro style hair. I love it
Vinny Guadagnino (from Jersey Shore) looked dapper in this suit. A big change from what he usually wears on tv.
And the woman who stole the show was Mrs. Knowles-Carter. Beyonce wore this GORGEOUS, drapey, Orange Lanvin dress. Before I saw the pictures of her holding her stomach, I thought wow beyonce usually doesnt wear dresses like that. Then when I realized she was pregnant it made sense. This looks gorgeous on her.
I also love this Dolce & Gabbana Pant Suit She wore during her "Love On Top" performance.
There were some fashion misses but we'll just ignore those lol. Overall, this award show was pretty good. I loved Kanye and Jay-z' performance and Bruno Mars was great also.
What were your favorite performances or fashion highlights from the 2011 VMAs?
